Professional Certificate Program and Learning Platform Terms of Use

(The term “site” or “website” as used in these Terms of Use includes all versions of internet pages accessed via an electronic device.)

User Enromment and Access

All users will be enrolled and given access to the the Center for Anti-Counterfeiting and Product Protection at Michigan State University’s (A-CAPP Center”) Professional Certificate program within 24-48 hours of direct purchase or enrollment request for corporate contracts. The 24-48 hour clock applies to normal business hours 8a-5p EST Monday-Friday and may be delayed during MSU designated holidays.

Once a user is enrolled, no refunds or exchanges will be issused and users will have 12 months to complete the course(s). A course is considered complete once the user successfully achieves a 70% or greater on the course final assessment. Final course assessments will lock after two unsuccessful attempts. Users can purchase a course retake for a fee that will allow 2 more attempts of the course assessment.

Access will be terminated once a user completes a course or after 12 months have elapsed since enrollment, whichever is sooner.

To access the platform or some of the resources it has to offer, you may be asked to provide certain registration details or other information. It is a condition of your use that all the information you provide on this site will be correct, current, and complete. If the A-CAPP Center believes the information you provide is not correct, current, or complete, the A-CAPP Center has the right to refuse you access to this site or any of its resources, and to terminate or suspend your access at any time.

Certificates

A certificate of completion is earned once a user completes a course. It is the users responsibility to download certificates of completion, which can be accomplished by clicking the certificate icon in the upper right hand corner of the course once logged in.

A professional certificate is eanred once a user completed all 17 courses in the program. The A-CAPP Center issues professional certificates on a weekly basis.

Discounts

The A-CAPP Center periodically runs promotional discounts on courses for its professional certificate program. The program also has established discounts for corporate purchases, government employees and academic employees. Additionally, there is a discount for course bundle purchases when all 17 courses are purchased at once.

It is the responcibility of the purchaser to utilize the discount codes when purchases are made on the A-CAPP Center’s ecommerce platform. Only one discount can be used at any given time.

Restrictions On Use

You may use the platform for purposes expressly permitted by this site. You may not use the platform for any other purpose, including any commercial purpose, without the A-CAPP Center’s express prior written consent. For example, you may not (and may not authorize any other party to) (i) co-brand the platform, or (ii) frame the platform, or (iii) hyper-link to the platform, without the express prior written permission of an authorized representative of the A-CAPP Center. For purposes of these Terms of Use, “co-branding” means to display a name, logo, trademark, or other means of attribution or identification of any party in such a manner as is reasonably likely to give a user the impression that such other party has the right to display, publish, or distribute the platform or content accessible within the platform. You agree to cooperate with the A-CAPP Center in causing any unauthorized co-branding, framing or hyper-linking immediately to cease.

Proprietary Information

The material and content accessible from the platform, and any other World Wide Web site owned, operated, licensed, or controlled by the A-CAPP Center (the “Content”) is the proprietary information of MSU or the party that provided the Content to MSU, and MSU or the party that provided the Content to MSU retains all right, title, and interest in the Content. Accordingly, the Content may not be copied, distributed, republished, uploaded, posted, or transmitted in any way without the prior written consent of the A-CAPP Center except that you may print out a copy of the Content solely for your personal use. In doing so, you may not remove or alter, or cause to be removed or altered, any copyright, trademark, trade name, service mark, or any other proprietary notice or legend appearing on any of the Content. Modification or use of the Content of Intellectual Property except as expressly provided in these Terms of Use violates the intellectual property rights of the A-CAPP Center or the party that provided the Content to the A-CAPP Center. If the Content is used in a manner that violates these Terms of Use, either the A-CAPP Center or the party that provided the Content to the A-CAPP Center shall be entitled to bring legal or other appropriate action as necessary to protect all rights to the Content and to seek all remedies available under these Terms of use or at law. Neither title nor intellectual property rights are transferred to you by access to this site.

Hyper-Links

The platform may be hyper-linked to other sites which are not maintained by, or related to, the A-CAPP Center. Hyper-links to such sites are provided as a service to users and are not sponsored by or affiliated with this site or the A-CAPP Center. The A-CAPP Center is not responsible for the content of those sites or damages caused by accessing them. Hyper-links are to be accessed at the user’s own risk, and the A-CAPP Center makes no representations or warranties about the content, completeness or accuracy of these hyper-links or the sites hyper-linked to this site. Further, the inclusion of any hyper-link to a third-party site does not necessarily imply endorsement by the A-CAPP Center of that site. Users must refer to the privacy statements and terms of use policies located on any third-party sites.

Trademarks, service marks, and logos appearing in this site are the property of MSU or the party that provided the trademarks, service marks, and logos to MSU. MSU and any party that provided trademarks, service marks, and logos to MSU retain all rights with respect to any of their respective trademarks, service marks, and logos appearing in this site.

Security

Any passwords used for this site are for individual use only. You will be responsible for the security of your password (if any). the A-CAPP Center will be entitled to monitor your password and, at its discretion, require you to change it. If you use a password that the A-CAPP Center considers insecure, the A-CAPP Center will be entitled to require the password to be changed and/or terminate your account.
