Offered through the Michigan State University College of Law each spring and taught by Kari Kammel, this course explores the growing global challenge of trademark counterfeiting. Students examine how legal systems, businesses, and governments work together to protect brands, consumers, and legitimate commerce from the risks of counterfeit goods in an increasingly connected global marketplace.
Offered through the Michigan State University College of Law each summer as part of the Global Food Law Program and taught by Kari Kammel, this course examines the growing challenge of food counterfeiting and the legal strategies used to protect food products, brands, and consumers in an increasingly global marketplace.
The Brand Protection Experience (SSC490) is a hands-on course that introduces students to the field of brand protection through applied learning, industry engagement, and real-world experiences. Students gain practical skills, connect with professionals, and explore career opportunities while learning directly from A-CAPP Center experts.
The A-CAPP Center works with instructors and departments at MSU and at other universities to support education and in brand protection and anti-counterfeiting. Certificates can be incorporated, in partnership with the A-CAPP center, into coursework or experiential learning, and faculty are encouraged to explore the Center’s educational resources to support their programs.
