DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act)

(US).  Enacted in 1998, this act implemented two World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) treaties:the WIPO Copyright Treaty and the WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty. The DMCA allows Congress to have the power “to promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited time to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries.”
