Michigan State University’s Center for Anti-Counterfeiting and Product Protection hosts its annual Brand Protection Strategy Summit for its brand owner, law enforcement, and academia partners October 2-3, 2018. This exclusive summit (no vendors or third parties) offers opportunities for attendees to share and learn from one another through open, collaborative, meaningful, and participant-led conversations on brand and product protection.

Our annual Summit offers several platforms for attendees to share, learn and network with one another, as well as from world-renowned scholars and globally-recognized industry and law enforcement leaders, and MSU students and interns.

Those interested in contributing their expertise in a panel session or leading a strategy or hightop session should please contact kkammel [at] msu.edu (Kari Kammel).

WHAT PAST ATTENDEES ARE SAYING...
The panels were excellent with experts in the subject matter………. Strong participation of “enforcement” experts………. Great peer interaction………. Helpful to broaden understanding of the issues………. Sessions allowed for collaboration………. Networking and identifying potential partnerships very beneficial………. Topics “spot on” for the times………. Learning from other attendees………. Break-out sessions were extremely valuable………. Networking opportunities far exceeded those experienced at other conferences……….

WHAT TO EXPECT

SUMMIT FLOW
Each year, discussions will center around 2-3 thematic areas that are determined based on the current state of brand and product protection.

  INTRODUCTION (10-15 MINUTES)
Each thematic area will be introduced by a thought leader to frame the issue and set the stage for the panels.

  PANELS (45-60 MINUTES)
Theme introductions will be followed by an open dialogue in the form of interactive panels of brand owners, academics, law enforcement, government, associations, and others to create a diversity of thought and approaches to brand protection solutions. The panel will conclude after a Q & A session.

HIGH TOP TABLES (45 MINUTES)
Panelists from the prior panels will have an opportunity to engage more personally and in depth with attendees to answer questions, talk further about the topic, and connect through informal high top tables.

STRATEGY SESSIONS (45 MINUTES)
Once participants hear from panelists and one another, they will disperse into strategy sessions. Diving further into and discussing the challenges and solutions practitioners face within the thematic area, participants will come up with 5 best applicable practices.

TAKE-AWAYS
Insights learned from the panels, hightops, and strategy sessions will be reported in the closing remarks, included in the conference proceedings and may be further explored by the Center through its research.
